PPS Mentoring and Induction Program
The Plymouth School system is dedicated to providing quality mentoring and support to all new staff with Massachusetts Initial or preliminary licensure. The Mentoring and Induction program combines one-on-one contact on an ongoing basis with joint workshops on topics of interest to new educators. This program is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education for fulfillment of the mentoring requirement for professional licensure.                                                                                                                          

Program Expectations
  • The mentor-protege relationship is confidential, informative and supportive.
  • Mentors and proteges attend an induction workshop prior to the start of school. Induction is held at P.C.I.S. in the IMC on August 22, 2011 from 8:00 to 3:00.
  • Mentors and proteges meet regularly for a total of at least 45 hours during the school year. Mentors document these sessions via a mentoring log that will be submitted to Martha Morales at mmorales@plymouth.k12.ma.us at PSMS. Mentor logs are due between May 7th and May 11th.
  • Mentors visit the proteges classroom and protegees visit the mentors classroom for a total of 6 times throughout the year. The visits are supportive and non-evaluative. 
  • Proteges are required to attend four two-hour workshops during the year. 
  • Mentors are required to addend a mandatory mentor meeting on January 9, 2012.
  • Informal mentor support is available at all times via the Mentor Steering Committee.
