| Improving Student Learning by Fostering Supportive Professional Relationships
PPS Mentoring and Induction ProgramThe Plymouth School system is dedicated to providing quality mentoring and support to all new staff with Massachusetts Initial or Preliminary licensure. The Mentoring and Induction program combines one-on-one contact on an ongoing basis with joint workshops on topics of interest to new educators. This program is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education for fulfillment of the mentoring requirement for Professional Licensure.
Program Expectations- The mentor-protege relationship is confidential, informative and supportive.
- Mentors and proteges attend an all day induction workshop prior to the start of school.
- Mentors and proteges meet regularly for a total of at least 45 hours during the school year. Mentors document these sessions via a mentoring log that will be submitted to the Mentor Coordinator by May 14th.
- Mentors visit the proteges classroom early in the year and may continue the visits throughout the year. The visits are supportive and non-evaluative.
- Proteges are required to attend four two-hour workshops during the year.
- Voluntary mentor support sessions are offered throughout the year.
- Informal mentor support is available at all times via the Mentor Steering Committee.
